Winter 2025
Program Update
We are making an effort to have our staff learn more about the basic functions of the clinic so that they can eventually take over some of these responsibilities from me (Dr. Wolf) and Cherlie. Part of this effort involves the finances of the clinic. In the past, we’ve had the registration clerk collect consultation fees and the pharmacy nurses collect the pharmacy fees. We recently hired a young woman who is trained as an accountant and she is now collecting all fees for the day, entering them in logbooks and the computer and balancing the cash revenue at the end of each day. We expect that, in the future, she will do staff payroll and perform additional accounting functions for us.
Water and Sanitation
We will be expanding the areas where our Promoters provide water and hygiene education and eventually provide latrines in these new areas.
INDIGENT PATIENT FUND
Due to economic difficulties in the country, we have been seeing an increasing number of malnourished infants in our outpatient clinic in Gatineau. We have been providing funds from our Indigent Patient Fund to mothers of these infants so they can purchase milk, beans and other nutritive foods to feed their children.

Goat Program
Over half of the recipients in the second generation of the Goat Program have paid back their 2 goats and these have been given to a third generation of recipients. 280 families are now benefitting from the original Goat Program started in early 2019 and another 200 are involved in the New Goat Program started in May 2023 which is going into its second generation. These programs are helping families put food on their tables, send their children to school and pay for medical care and other emergency needs.
Agriculture Program
Over the course of 2 years, we were able to supply 1350 farmers with black bean seeds for planting. The beans that were harvested were used for food for the families, sold for other needs and some were re-planted in the next planting season. In the future, we will be providing special educational sessions for farmers in order to help them maximize their harvests and learn more about good cultivation techniques.
