WHAT MAKES OUR CLINIC SPECIAL

There are many things that make Centre de Sante de Gatineau special.

First and foremost is the fact that we do a good job of correctly diagnosing patients’ medical problems and we have the appropriate medications, given in the appropriate doses to treat them.

In addition, we have a very dedicated staff of physicians, nurses, technicians and other ancillary workers who help make the patient experience a positive one and serve as a testimony to our faith in Christ.

And, then we have donations from our donors and supporters that allow us to keep our fees reasonable, provide small gifts to children and the elderly and fund our special programs.

There’s something else that makes us special and that is that most of the gifts we give in our clinic are Haitians giving to Haitians. I (Dr. Wolf) give toy cars and beanie babies to the children (I can’t give up this daily pleasure) but it’s the Haitian nurses who give out diapers, dresses, baby caps, tote bags and gifts of rice and beans.

That way, patients realize that the gifts are coming from the clinic as a whole, not from Americans and foreigners. And, that’s important in terms of them feeling ownership of the clinic.

It’s their clinic and they’re proud of it.

One of our elderly patients was telling me how proud she was to have a COVID vaccine card in her purse.

She proudly showed it to me as she shook her head and said, “This clinic is so wonderful, they even give you treatment to prevent you from getting sick!”

I think she understands vaccines better than most people.

And, then there’s another woman who always laughs during our discussions. When I asked her why, she said she’s just so happy to be here!

We enjoy our patients and we're grateful to be back taking care of them again.
